Kudakkallu Parambu - Megalithic Burial Site, Chermanangad, India

Kudakkallu Parambu is a prehistoric Megalithic burial site located in the village of Chermanangad, 20km away from Thrissur, Kerala, India. The site have 69 megalithic monuments spread over a small area.

According to Archaeological Survey of India, these monuments are built around 2000 BC. There are many types of burial structures found on the site, the most prominent and visible ones are the “Koddakal” meaning umbrella stone in the local language. These burial structures are shaped like an umbrella or a mushroom. Its scale and clean assemblage are some of the reasons why this Megalith is so unique. Other types of burial structures found on the site are hood stones and circle stones that act as markers for the burials below.
