Unique Painting Created By Using 200,000 Ants

Artist Chris Trueman, of Claremont, Calif., has created a unique painting by using 200,000 ants than using paint. Chris painting called “Self Portrait With Gun” is actually a picture his sister, dressed as a cowboy, his father holding a shotgun. From a distance the unusual work of art is more like an old yellowed photograph, but if you get closer, you realize it’s actually something entirely different. a painting made of ants.

For artists, painting strange ant is how people learn about abstract things, only to have the impression they are changing because they are closer to them. But actually complete his work is not a simple task, especially since he hates killing living beings is “right on the lines of what I consider intelligent life” When I first started the project, he decided to catch your own ants, but ants in San Francisco, where he lived at that time, too small. So, he decided to order it online, from a man who breed and sell them as food for lizards.

First he ordered only 1,000 ants, because he did not know how much he would need for the proper density, but then he started ordering 40,000 ants. They come in a jar of peanut butter, and watch them back and forth in there, it is difficult for Chris to make a decision. He can not release them, because they do not fit in the area, and they can begin to bite people. So, he decided to kill the ants themselves. It is not easy, and he even took a 1-year break, but decided to finish the work semutnya, because he did not want to fail his first work in vain.

Some ants are dry and cut into pieces, so Chris Trueman using them in most of the paintings, in which details are not important, save the full-sized ants for the parts in detail. he will handle them with tweezers, put them on canvas Plexiglas and coat them in the painting called “resin galkyd”.
